Edelweiss Corona Kavach Policy 

Edelweiss Corona Kavach health insurance policy provides cover for the medical expenses incurred during the treatment of Covid-19 in the hospitals. This product has been designed as an indemnity based health insurance policy that will cover for hospitalization, home care treatment, AYUSH treatment, pre and post-hospitalization expenses etc.

Eligibility Criteria

The entry age criteria, waiting period, sub-limits and waiting period of Edelweiss Corona Kavach policy are given below:

  • Minimum & Maximum entry age:18 years up to 65 years.
  • Waiting Period: There is a waiting period of 15 days to avail of the benefits of the Corona Kavach policy.
  • Sum Insured: Sum insured amount is Rs. 50,000 up to Rs. 5,00,000.
  • Members Covered: Policy can be availed for self and the following family members. 1. Legally wedded spouse. 2. Parents and Parents-in-law.  
  • Dependent children: Natural or legally adopted between the day 1 of age to 25 years. If the child above 18 years of age is financially independent, he or she will be negligible.
  • Policy Period: Three and half month, six and a half months, nine and a half months including waiting period.
  • Payment Basis: The base cover is on the indemnity basis and optional cover is on benefit basis.

Inclusion in Edelweiss Corona Kavach Health Insurance Policy

The Edelweiss Corona Kavach health insurance policy provides cover for the following:

  • Hospitalization expenses: Medical expenses incurred on hospitalization for Covid for minimum period of 24 hours including pre-hospitalization expenses for a period of 15 days and post hospitalization expenses for a period of 30 days.
  • Ambulance charges: Expenses on road ambulance subject to a maximum of Rs. 2000 per hospitalization.
  • Home care treatment expenses: Costs of treatment incurred by the insured person on availing treatment at home for maximum up to 14 days per admission as per policy terms and conditions including pre-hospitalization expenses for a period of 15 days and post hospitalization expenses for a period of 30 days.
  • AYUSH coverage: Medical expenses incurred on hospitalization for Covid under AYUSH treatment.
  • Hospital daily cash.

Exclusions in Edelweiss Corona Kavach Health Insurance Policy

The Edelweiss Corona Kavach health insurance policy does not provide cover for the following:

  • Admission primarily for investigation and evaluation
  • Admission primarily for rest cure, rehabilitation and respite care.
  • Any claim in relation to Covid where it has been diagnosed prior to policy start date.
  • Day care treatment and OPD treatment.

Cancelation of Policy

The company is liable to cancel the policy any time on grounds of misrepresentation, non-disclosure of material facts fraud by the insured person by giving 7 days written notice.

Claiming Process

For reimbursement of claim: The insured person may submit the necessary documents to TPA/company within the prescribed time limit as specified below:
