    The benefits of buying this policy from United India Health Insurance are given below:

    • The insurer provides 10% discount on the premium on the purchase of a family floater policy
    • The policy is available In 3 tenure options i.e. 3 ½   months, 6  ½  , and 9  ½ months
    • The policy sum insured starts from Rs 50,000 and goes up to Rs 5 Lakh
    • The insurer also pays for 15 days of pre-hospitalization expenses and 30 days of post-hospitalization expenses
    • 5% discount is provided to healthcare professional as directed by the IRDAI

    Inclusions of United India Corona Kavach Policy

    The policy includes the expenses incurred on the coronavirus treatment upon hospitalization and home quarantine. To know the inclusions check out the details below:

    Coronavirus Hospitalization Expenses

    United India Corona Kavach policy pays for hospitalization expenses paid for COVID-19 treatment and the details are given below:

    • The cost charged by the hospital for room admission, nursing and boarding charges are paid by the insurer
    • The bills of the Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU) or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) are taken care off
    • It also includes the fees charged by the surgeon or the treating medical practitioner, specialists, anaesthetist, and medical consultants
    • The policy also covers the cost of diagnostics tests, operation theatre, oxygen, blood, surgical appliances, anaesthesia, medicines and drugs, ventilator charges, etc.
    • Moreover, the cost incurred on PPE kits, masks, gloves, oximeter, and such COVID-19 treatment-related consumable items are also covered
    • Road ambulance transportation charges for COVID positive patient are also covered up to Rs 2000
    • However, to avail the coverage benefits the insured person needs to be admitted in the hospital for a minimum of 24 hours 

    Home Care Treatment Expenses Cover

    Corona Kavach policy also pays for home care treatment expenses in case the patient tests COVID positive as per the diagnostic reports from a Government Registered Centre and the policyholder is advised treatment at home:

    • The home care treatment expenses will be reimbursed if a doctor suggested the same
    • There should be an active line of treatment with daily monitoring by an authorized doctor
    • Maintenance of daily chart record is also required and needs to be signed by a treating doctor to claim the expenses for the following:
    • Diagnostic test procedures
    • Nebulizer, pulse oximeter, and oxygen
    • Medicines and doctor fees
    • Medical staff fees and nursing charges
    • Medical procedures limited to parenteral administration of medicines

    Pre and Post Hospitalization Cover

    The Corona Kavach policy also covers 15 days of pre-hospitalization medical expenses and 30-days of post-hospitalization treatment.

    AYUSH Expense Cover

    United India Corona Kavach policy also pays the insured person for COVID-19 treatment in a registered Ayush Hospital. It covers homeopathy treatment, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Naturopathy treatments, if the policyholder is advised to do that and he opts for the same. 

    Optional Daily Hospital Cash Add-on Cover

    Corona Kavach coronavirus health insurance policy by United India Health Insurance Company provides an optional coverage benefit of Daily Hospital cash cover. Under this add-on cover, the insurer shall recompense 0.5% of the Sum Insured amount on daily basis for 24 hours of hospitalization. It will only be valid for a maximum of 15 days of treatment during the policy term for every insured person in the policy. The total payable amount in respect of hospitalization expenses, AYUSH treatment expenses, and home treatment should not exceed 100% of the coverage amount during the policy term.

    Exclusions of United India Corona Kavach Policy

    Corona Kavach coronavirus health insurance policy has certain limitations as listed under:

    • Hospital admissions for evaluation and investigation
    • Day Care treatment expenses
    • Cost of OPD treatment
    • Admission required rest cure, respite care and rehabilitation
    • Any COVID related diagnosis before purchasing the policy
    • Unproven treatments are also not covered
    • Expenses related to coronavirus 15 days after policy purchase are also excluded

    United India Corona Kavach Policy Claim Procedures

    It is quite simple to file a Corona Kavach policy claim with United India Health Insurance Company. You can file both cashless and reimbursement claims, and the process is given below:

    • For reimbursement of hospitalization and pre-hospitalization expense the policyholder needs to submit the documents to the TPA within 30 days of hospital discharge
    • On the other hand, post-hospitalization expenses will be reimbursed on submission of documents to the TPA within 15 days of completion of the treatment
    • For reimbursement of home care treatment expenses the policyholder needs to submit the documents to the TPA within 30 days

    United India Corona Kavach Policy Cashless Claim Procedure

    The process to avail cashless treatment for coronavirus treatment under this policy is given below:

    • To avail cashless claim from the insurance company, the insured person needs to undergo treatment in a network hospital
    • To initiate the claim process a pre-authorization letter is required from the TPA or the Insurer
    • Take the cashless request from the TPA or the network hospital and send it to the Insurer or TPA for authorization
    • The Insurer or the TPA will issue the pre-authorization letter to the hospital upon getting cashless claim request form along with the required medical information from the policyholder
    • Once discharged from hospital, the policyholder needs to verify and sign the discharge papers
    • You also need to pay for other inadmissible or non-medical expenses
    • In case the medical details seem insufficient the insurer can deny pre-authorization and the insured person will need to file for reimbursement

    United India Corona Kavach Policy Reimbursement Claim Procedure

    Here is the claim notification process and time limit:

    For claim initiation, the insurer or the TPA needs to be informed within the prescribed time limits as mentioned under: needs to send a notice to the insurer/TPA as mentioned under:

    • If the policyholder goes for cashless treatment at home or an emergency hospitalization the insurer needs to be informed within 24-hours
    • And if it is planned hospitalization make sure that you inform the insurance company at least 48-hours in advance
    • For successful completion of claim procedure make sure that you submit all the documents as required by the insurer and a checklist is given below
    • Post document submission, the claim request will be processed further and the claim amount will be paid to the treating hospital or reimbursed to the policyholder

    To file coronavirus health insurance claims following documents need to be submitted to the insurance company:

    • Duly filled and signed claim form
    • Copy of all the pages of the passport to track the travel history
    • Photo ID Proof of an applicant whose passport is not available
    • Doctor’s prescription for hospitalization
    • Medical bills with the break-up and payment receipts
    • Discharge report from the hospital with treatment details
    • Diagnostic reports a registered diagnostic Centre
    • OT notes and certificate from the treating surgeon ( if applicable)
    • KYC details with ID and Address proof of the policyholder if the claim amount exceeds Rs 1 Lakh
    • Successors certificate, wherever applicable
    • Other medical documents as required by the insurer

    Documents required for Home Treatment Claims

    If the insured person is undergoing treatment at home then following documents are required for claim settlement:

    • He needs to fill and submit the duly signed claim form
    • Copy of all the pages of the passport to track the travel history
    • Photo ID Proof of an applicant whose passport is not available
    • Doctor’s prescription for home care treatment
    • Medical bills with the break-up and payment receipts
    • Discharge Certificate/health monitoring report of the patient on daily basis/ medical records signed by the treating medical practitioner
