      How to Pay Tamil Nadu Road Tax Online?

      The process for paying road tax in Tamil Nadu on the Vahan portal:

      • Visit the Parivahan Sewa official website.
      • Under the 'Online Services' tab, select 'Vehicle Related Services'.
      • Select 'Tamil Nadu' from the state dropdown menu.
      • Enter your vehicle registration number and proceed.
      • Click on the 'Pay Your Tax' option.
      • Provide the last five digits of the chassis number for verification.
      • Choose the tax mode (Quarterly/Half-yearly/Annual/Life-time).
      • Complete the payment using Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI.
      • Download and save the digital tax receipt.

      How to Pay Tamil Nadu Road Tax Offline?

      Use the steps given below to pay Tamil Nadu road tax offline:

      • Go to the local Regional Transport Office (RTO) where the vehicle is registered.
      • Obtain and fill out the tax declaration forms.
      • Submit the documents that are required for the vehicle you have.
      • The RTO official will calculate the tax based on the vehicle's current age and weight.
      • Pay the amount at the cash counter or via a Bank Challan.
      • The tax token/receipt will be issued immediately.

      Penalties for Late or Non-Payment of Tamil Nadu Road Tax

      There is a penalty charged when you fail to settle the Tamil Nadu road tax amount within the dedicated timeline. The penalty can either be a maximum of twice the quarterly tax payable or half of the annual tax payment.
