      For two-wheelers, Uttar Pradesh follows a simple percentage-based structure based on the cost of the vehicle, as shown below:

      How to Pay Uttar Pradesh Road Tax Online?

      The online provision to pay your Uttar Pradesh road tax is available on Parivahan Sewa. Use the steps given below to pay your UP road tax online:

      • Visit the Parivahan Sewa official website.
      • Select 'Vehicle Related Services' from the 'Online Services' menu.
      • Tap on 'Uttar Pradesh' as your state.
      • Insert your vehicle registration number and click 'Proceed'.
      • Select the 'Pay Your Tax' option.
      • Check your details and type in the mobile number for OTP.
      • Choose your tax mode (Yearly/Quarterly/Lifetime) and complete the road tax payment.
      • Download the e-receipt for your records.

      How to Pay Uttar Pradesh Road Tax Offline?

      This is the offline process of paying the Uttar Pradesh road tax offline:

      • Visit the nearest Regional Transport Office (RTO).
      • Fill out the required road tax form.
      • Provide a copy of the Registration Certificate (RC), valid Insurance, and any other documents that might be required.
      • Submit the amount for road tax at the dedicated tax counter.
      • Ask for the receipt or get the payment updated in your vehicle RC.

      Penalties for Late or Non-Payment of Uttar Pradesh Road Tax

      A delay in or not paying the Uttar Pradesh road tax payment within the specified time period leads to a penalty of up to 100% of the due tax amount. Motor vehicles are not allowed to be operated within the state without paying the road tax amount and any pending arrears.

      Yes, according to the current UP EV Policy, the government offers a 100% road tax amount exemption for electric vehicles purchased and registered in Uttar Pradesh for a limited period (valid until 2025-2027, depending on the target quota).

      The road tax in Uttar Pradesh depends on several aspects of a vehicle, including its age, gross vehicle weight (for goods carrying vehicles), seating capacity (passenger vehicles), etc. For example, 9% of the ex-showroom cost of a vehicle is charged as road tax for an air-conditioned four-wheeler with a purchase price of up to INR 10 lakhs.

      You have to pay the UP road tax at the time of vehicle registration. It is usually required when purchasing a new car or transferring vehicle registration to UP from another state. But passenger and goods carrying vehicles are taxed on an annual/quarterly basis.

      The road tax figure for a two-wheeler in UP is considered as per its ex-showroom value. To provide an example, a two-wheeler costing above INR 40,000 is taxed at 9% of its ex-showroom price.

      For used cars, the tax is already paid for 15 years. You only need to pay a nominal transfer fee. However, if the car is older than 15 years, you must pay a Green Tax and a Registration Renewal fee every 5 years.
