Masks Still Mandatory at Airports and Flights in India
As more states drop no-mask mandates, people are still required to wear masks while at the airport as well as during the flight. As per the Director-General of Civil Aviation, while many COVID-19 restrictions for air travel have been relaxed, it is still recommended that travellers wear a mask while they are at the airports or taking flights in India.
Masks Recommended During Air Travel: DGCA
While more and more states lift the compulsory masking rules, DGCA Arun Kumar still recommends wearing a mask during air travel. Since March 2021, those travelling by air without wearing a mask could be deboarded. The rule still applies along with other COVID-19 appropriate behaviour, including social distancing and sanitising.
After the pandemic struck India, not wearing a mask was a punishable offence in many states. People were required to mask properly while stepping out or fines would be levied against them.
With lowering cases, many cities including Mumbai and Delhi have withdrawn mask mandates with immediate effect. No penalty or fine will be imposed for not wearing masks in these states.
