    Bajaj Allianz - Critical Illness Plan

    Bajaj Allianz Critical Illness policy offers a sum insured amount up to Rs 50 Lakh for 10 critical illnesses. The pre-medical test would be based on the age of the policyholder, sum insured opted and the adverse health declaration on the proposal form. There can be a loading of minimum 10% to a maximum 150% on the standard premium rates depending upon the health status of the insured and declarations on the proposal form.

    Bharti AXA Smart Super Health Insurance Plan

    The policy covers 20 critical illnesses including kidney failure requiring regular dialysis. For critical illnesses a 60 days of waiting period is required along with 30 days survival period. The policy also covers genetic disorders after a waiting period of 48 months.

    Chola MS Critical Healthline Plan

    It gives you a lump sum if diagnosed with any of the listed illness including kidney failure without any hospitalization bill to help manage critical illness expenses, as well as other financial commitments, comfortably. It is suitable for people up to 65 years. You can select from the sum insured options of Rs 3 Lakh, Rs 5Lakh, & Rs 10 Lakh. And the policy term options are 1, 3, 5 years with a waiting period of 90 days

    Care Critical Illness Insurance (formerly known as Religare Health Insurance)

    The policy covers 32 critical illnesses, including dialysis cover up to the sum insured limit. The insurer pays for dialysis treatment and there are no sub-limits for ICU expenses. Daycare treatments are covered up to the sum insured limit. Annual health check-up cost can also be claimed after completion of 2-years of the policy term. Some of the unique health services include global health cover, international second opinion, doctor-on-call, and alternative treatment cover up to 25% of the sum insured amount.

    Future Generali Critical Illness Insurance Policy

    Future Generali Critical Illness Insurance health plan covers kidney failure requiring dialysis on a regular basis. The sum insured amount ranges from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 20 lakh for individuals between the age group of 46 years to 65 years old. For adults between 18 years and 45 years old the sum insured limit is Rs 50 Lakh.  Along with kidney failure, it also covers cancer, liver failure, and total blindness for the first time, bone marrow transplant, etc. it requires a waiting period of 90 days and survival period of 28 days.

    HDFC Ergo Critical Illness Plan

    This plan provides a lump sum benefit amount after survival of 30 days. It covers up to 15  critical illnesses and offers an option of one or two-year policy coverage period. With lifelong renewability, this policy pays the lump sum amount on the first diagnosis of any of the critical illnesses, which are covered. There may be a pre-policy check-up depending on the age of the proposer.

    HDFC Ergo Optimal Vital Health Insurance Plan (formerly known as Apollo Munich Health Insurance)

    The policy covers 37 critical illnesses including kidney failure requiring regular dialysis. You can get coverage for yourself, spouse, 4 children, and parents. The policy tenure ranges from 1 year to 2 years. Second opinion benefit cover is also provided to the insured.

    Iffco Tokio Family Health Protector Policy

    It covers 11 critical illnesses including Kidney failure, Cancer, Coma, Stroke, Permanent limb paralysis, major organ transplant, motor neuron disease, bone marrow transplant, multiple sclerosis with persisting symptoms. Non-allopathic treatment like Ayurveda, homeopathy, Unani, and Siddha are recompensed as well.

    Kotak Secure Shield Critical illness Plan

    This is a critical illness policy that covers cancer, kidney failure, brain tumor, etc. The insurer pays for kidney dialysis up to the specified limit. Any between 18 years and above can buy this policy for 1 year, 2 years, and 3 years. The insured can renew it for a lifetime.

    Max Bupa Criticare Critical Insurance Plan

    It offers coverage against 20 major critical illnesses including dialysis for kidney failure treatment and offers direct claim settlement facility. You can either take payment in a lump sum or opt for lump sum payment with 10 percent of SI for the subsequent 5 years after payment of lump sum amount.

    Manipal Lifestyle Protection - Critical Care Health Plan

    The Manipal Lifestyle Protection Critical Care Basic health plan offers coverage for 15 critical illnesses and Enhanced covers 30 critical illnesses. The policy offers a higher sum insured amount option upto Rs 25 Crore that can help in paying for most of the expensive treatments for critical illnesses including kidney failure.

    National Critical Illness Policy

    The policy covers self, spouse, and dependent children. There are two variants - Plan A covers 11 critical illnesses and Plan B covers 37 critical illnesses. It also covers critical illness included dialysis for kidney failure. The insured patient needs to survive for 30 days from the date of diagnosis to avail the policy benefits. 

    New India Assurance Asha Kiran Health Plan

    This plan provides a financial cushion to you and your family members against medical emergencies, hospitalization expenses, and accidental injuries. This plan is not for a single person, but a family floater plan providing cover to parents and their two daughters. Coverage for kidney failure regular dialysis is provided in this health insurance plan and the maximum sum insured limit is Rs 8 Lakh.

    Reliance Critical Illness Policy

    The Sum Insured amount range from Rs 5 lakh, Rs 7 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. It also provides Cancer Cover, Coma Quadriplegia cover and coverage for an end-stage renal disease requiring regular dialysis.  It covers 10 major critical illness and surgeries. And medical check-up is required only for applicants above the age of 45 years.

    Star Criticare Plus Insurance Policy

    The policy covers 9 specified critical illnesses along with first diagnosis of cancer, Brain tumor and Chronic Kidney Disease. The insurer pays a lump sum amount on diagnosis of critical illness and covers non-allopathic treatment as well. Pre-existing kidney diseases are also covered after 48 months of continuous insurance with any insurer in India.

    SBI Critical Illness Health Insurance Policy

    SBI critical illness insurance covers 13 critical illnesses along with end-stage kidney failure and dialysis treatment. The policy covers pre-existing diseases after a waiting period of 48 months. The proposer can avail 5% discount on coverage for 2 members and 10% discount if more than 2 members are covered under the same plan.

    TATA AIG - CritiCare Plan

    The policy covers up to 11 critical illnesses and provides second opinion benefit as well. Critical illnesses can be claimed after 90 days of waiting period is completed post policy purchase date. Expenses incurred on kidney failure treatment requiring regular dialysis are recompensed.

    United India UNI Criticare Health Insurance Plan

    United India UNI Criticare health insurance plan pays for treatment of 11 Critical illnesses including cancer.  The payment is done in the lump sum upon diagnoses of any of the specified critical illnesses during the policy term. Expenses incurred on kidney dialysis can also be claimed under this medical policy.

    Universal Sompo Critical Illness Health Insurance Plan

    The plan offers a wide range of sum assured from Rs 2.5 Lakh to Rs 20 Lakh. It covers the expenses incurred on critical illnesses and surgical procedures including kidney failure requiring regular dialysis.

    There are certain points that need to be considered while purchasing a critical illness policy that covers dialysis treatment:

    • Decide whether you want a standalone cover benefit or an add-on benefit along with a basic benefit
    • Go through the brochure and key features document to determine the coverage for kidney failure and dialysis treatment
    • Compare and study carefully the benefits of the plans along with their price. It's not necessary that the cheapest policy will be the best.

    Examine whether the premiums are reviewed periodically. Check the survival and waiting period as well.

    Keep these few points in mind and you will surely be able to get a fruitful Critical Illness Policy. Moreover, don’t forget to reveal all material facts to the insurance company as not doing so may result in the cancellation of the existing base policy.
