National D Visa EUR 116 (INR 12,174)

Italy Student Visa Fees

As an Indian student, you can take short-term courses in Italy with a Schengen visa (up to 90 days) or choose a national visa for longer studies. Italy is also known for lower visa fee charges for students.

Here are the different Italy visa fees for students:

Category Fees
National Visa (for courses of more than 90 days) EUR 50 (INR 5,247)
Schengen visa (for short courses of up to 90 days) Free

Note: The INR equivalent is subject to change based on the prevailing exchange rates.

Italy Visa Extension Fees

If you have a short-stay Schengen visa, you can only stay in Italy for the period specified on your visa. Extensions are only granted in exceptional circumstances, such as:

  • Medical emergencies
  • Inability to travel
  • Legitimate business reasons

In such cases, the local Questura (the local headquarters of the Italian state police) is responsible for reviewing and approving visa extension requests.

You cannot extend a long-stay national visa. Instead, once in Italy, you must apply for a residence permit (permesso di soggiorno), the only document that legally allows for a long-term stay.

Italy Visa Cancellation Charges

Italian visas do not have separate cancellation charges. Nonetheless, the visa fees are non-refundable and won't be reimbursed, regardless of whether your visa remains unused or is rejected.

Once you are familiar with the Italy visa fees for Indians, you can submit your application at the VAC as per your visa requirements.
