    Entry Essentials for Indonesia

    The biggest advantage of traveling to Indonesia from India is that one does need an Indonesian visa if he/she stays here for less than 30 days. Under this, one is required to visit the immigration desk in this country and go for ‘Visa Exemption Stamp’. This visa type is non-extendable. Moreover, one does not have to pay anything to get this stamp.

    However, the visa process is different for those who want to stay longer (between 30 days to 60 days) in Indonesia. In this case, one can apply for a visa upon arrival for 30 days with the option to extend it to 60 days.

    Note: One should make sure that his/her passport is valid for at least six months from the day of his/her arrival and it must have two free pages for stamps as he/she will not be able to travel otherwise.

    Types of Indonesian Visa for Indians

    There are four types of Indonesian visas offered by the Embassy of Indonesia in India. These four types are:

    1. Short Stay Visa: To stay for less than 30 days in Indonesia, one does not need a visa. At the immigration center of Indonesia, an Indian traveler can get Visa Exemption Stamp.

    2. On Arrival Visa:One is eligible to apply for an Indonesian visa upon arrival. This visa is valid for 30 days only and it can be extended only once for another 30 days.

    3. B-211 – Social and Cultural Visa: One of the ways to stay for a long duration in Indonesia is to apply for a Social and Cultural Visa – B 211. An Indian traveler with this visa can stay in Indonesia for 60 days. One can extend this visa four times and each time for 30 days. To apply for this visa, one needs a sponsorship letter from a citizen of Indonesia who is staying in this country only.

    4. Long Stay Visa:Under this type of Indonesian visa for travelers of India permits one to stay long, i.e. for more than 60 days in this country. This visa type is the best choice for those who want to stay in this country for business purposes, or study, or for any kind of work. One has to apply for this visa in advance.

    Despite the visa type, it is always recommended to have travel insurance before traveling to Indonesia. This is to ensure financial safety while traveling to a different country.

    Documents Required for Indonesian Visa

    To apply for an Indonesian visa, one can go to the Indonesian embassy or consulate in India or can apply online. While applying for a visa, one has to provide the following documents:
