Applying for a Bahrain work visa from India can be a complex process. Here is a simple step-by-step guide to help applicants keen on working in Bahrain:
- Gather Documents: Collect all required documents from the employer. Make copies of all-important documents and your passport. Submit these copies to your Bahraini employer so that they can apply for your Bahrain work visa on the Expat Management System (EMS) provided by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).
- Complete the Required Medical Tests: The applicant must undergo the required medical tests at an accredited health centre recognised by Bahrain's Ministry of Health. The medical reports must be no older than three months from the issue date.
- Visa Fee Payment: Ensure that the Bahrain Work Visa Fee including the processing and administrative fee are paid during the application process. The Bahrain work visa fee needs to be paid either in one of the accredited banks or on the Expat Management System. If the visa fee is not paid before the invoice due date, the visa application will be cancelled.
- Collect Your Visa: Once approved, you can get a print of your Bahrain work visa from the EMS system, or you can collect your visa upon arrival based on the agreement with your employer.

Ans: Yes. You can change jobs and your employer after completing one year with your current employer. It would help if you informed LMRA and your current employer about your intention to switch jobs within the stipulated time mentioned in the contract. -
Q3: Can my dependent spouse work in Bahrain?
Ans: Yes. After getting proper approval, dependent spouses of expat employees are permitted to work in Bahrain. Dependent spouses who do not want to change their visa status can apply for a Work Approval for Dependents permit. -
Q4: Should my spouse also undergo medical tests before coming to Bahrain?
Ans: No. Dependent family members are not required to undergo any medical tests before coming to Bahrain. These medical tests are only mandatory for expat employees who have applied for a Bahrain work visa. -
Q5: How long can I stay in Bahrain after my work visa expires?
Ans: Upon the expiry of your work permit, you can stay in Bahrain for up to 30 days. During this 30-day grace period, expat employees should either leave Bahrain or find a new employer. However, expats with an expired work permit are not allowed to take up jobs within this time period.
