In the latest developments, six people, including three rescuers, have died in South France due to bad weather conditions in the area. Referred to as ‘the Mediterranean episodes’, the country has been under the spell of heavy floods, torrential rains and high-speed winds since late November.
The body of a 35-year-old woman was recovered in Villeneuve in the Alps of the Haute Provence on December 2, after she went missing during a family trip. A day before, the bodies of two more people, including a stable owner and a shepherd from the Var region, were also found in the Riviera.
On the night of December 1, a rescue helicopter EC145 crashed in Var region during the rescue and reconnaissance flight operation. The pilot of the helicopter along with a rescue specialist and a technician died in the crash. The emergency teams found their bodies near Marseille.
