Why It Is Important to Check Your Bajaj Life Policy Status?

Keeping an eye on your policy status regularly comes down to a few practical things.

  • It helps you avoid disruptions altogether, when you're actually tracking things, premiums get paid on time and your coverage doesn't quietly lapse on you.

  • It also keeps you ahead of upcoming due dates, so you're not scrambling at the last minute or missing a payment by accident.

  • Beyond just payments, it's worth checking in on what your policy actually covers, your sum assured, maturity value, any bonuses that have accumulated, and riders you might have added along the way.

  • Same goes for your personal details. Address, contact number, nominee info, these need to stay accurate, and a quick check now and then catches anything outdated before it becomes a problem later.

  • There's a practical side to this too, when your policy information is current, things like claims and service requests just move faster, less back and forth, less delay.

  • It's also a good moment to step back and ask whether your coverage still makes sense for where you're headed, your family's financial security, your kid's education, retirement, whatever you're planning around.

  • At the end of the day, staying informed simply means you know your protection is active and actually working for you, not just something you bought once and forgot about.

Wrapping It Up!

Checking your Bajaj Life Insurance policy status isn't complicated, all you need is your phone or laptop and a decent internet connection, and you can pull up everything in a few minutes.

There's more than one way to do this too, through the Life Assist portal, WhatsApp, SMS, their BOING chatbot, email, or just walking into a branch if you'd rather do it in person. Stuck somewhere along the way? Their customer care line (020 6712 1212) or email (customercare@bajajlife.com) should sort you out.

One more thing, if you're still shopping around and haven't bought a term plan yet, it's worth running your numbers through Policybazaar's term insurance premium calculator before you commit to anything.

Note: Before buying, it is suggested that you calculate the term plan premium using the Policybazaar term insurance premium calculator online tool.

FAQs

  • How can I check my Bajaj Life Insurance policy status without registering an online account?

Ans: You don't actually need an account for this. Call customer care on 020-6712 1212 (they're open Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 7 PM) and have your policy number and date of birth ready for verification. Or, if that feels like too much effort, just send "Hi" to 8806727272 on WhatsApp and check your status right there in the chat. Either way, keep your policy number on hand before you start.
  • What does "discontinued" mean instead of "active"?

Ans: This usually happens with ULIPs. If your premium stops during the first five years, Bajaj Life takes out a discontinuance charge (there's a cap on this set by IRDAI, and it disappears entirely after year five), and whatever's left gets parked in a Discontinued Policy Fund that earns at least 4% interest a year. Problem is, you have zero life cover while this is going on. You get three years from your first missed premium to revive things. Let that window pass, and the fund gets paid out once the revival or lock-in period ends, whichever comes later, so you do get your money, just not the growth or protection you'd actually signed up for.
  • Can I check my status using just my mobile number?

Ans: Yes, and it's pretty simple. On the Life Assist portal or app, your registered mobile number plus an OTP is all it takes, no policy number needed separately. That's because Bajaj Life ties every policy under that number back to your account automatically.
  • How long before a lapsed policy becomes permanently non-revivable?

Ans: Term and traditional plans get 5 years to revive, from the first missed premium or till maturity, whichever's first. ULIPs get just 3 years under IRDAI rules. Miss the window, and the original policy can't come back. What happens next depends on whether it had built up paid-up or surrender value, check the "Non-forfeiture benefits" section in your policy document. If it had value, you keep reduced benefits or get the surrender value. If not, it ends with nothing. One more thing, reviving a policy resets the Section 45 contestability clock, giving the insurer a fresh 3-year window to question the policy.
  • Does checking my status also show my next premium due date?

Ans: It does, yes. The Life Assist dashboard shows this right next to your policy status, so you're not hunting around separately. Handy if you're trying to plan your finances around an upcoming payment rather than just confirming your policy is still active.
  • Can I download my policy documents from the same place?

Ans: You can. E-policy bond, premium receipts, bonus statements, all of it sits on the same Life Assist dashboard where you check your status. No need to dig through a different section or call customer care just for these routine downloads.
  • What if my personal details on the status page are wrong?

Ans: Easy fix. Go to the profile update section on the Life Assist portal or app and correct things like your address, contact info, or bank details. Or message "Hi" to 8806727272 on WhatsApp and pick the update option there instead. Most of these changes will ask for an OTP to confirm, and a couple of fields might need supporting documents, so have those ready beforehand.
  • What happens if I miss a premium payment?

Ans: Nothing drastic happens right away. Bajaj Life gives you a grace period, 15 days if you're paying monthly, 30 days if you're on quarterly, half-yearly, or annual mode. Your cover stays completely active through this stretch. And if something were to happen to the life assured during this grace period, the death claim still gets paid, though the insurer will subtract that year's unpaid premium from the final amount. The policy only actually lapses if this grace period runs out and the premium's still unpaid.

Varun Agarwal IRDAI Certified Term Insurance Expert with 10+ Years of Experience

Varun has spent years in the insurance space, but what drives him isn't policies or premiums — it's the conversations he's had with real people. A young father in Pune wondering if his salary is enough. A newly married couple in Jaipur putting off "the insurance talk" for later. A mother in Chennai who never knew her husband was underinsured until it was too late.
These stories stay with him. As Head of Term Insurance at Policybazaar, Varun knows the numbers well — 52.4% of Indians are aware of term insurance, yet only 9.6% own it. And 87% of families don't realise they're leaving their loved ones with far less protection than they actually need. But behind every statistic, he sees a family that just needed someone to sit with them, explain it simply, and help them take that one step. That's exactly what Policybazaar's term insurance is built to do. In his words, "Most people aren't avoiding protection — they're just waiting for someone to make it easy. That's what we're here for."
