According to IRCC guidelines, if you withdraw your application before processing begins, you may receive a full refund of the fees paid. However, if your application is already under processing, in that case, you can claim a refund for only specific charges like the Right of Permanent Residence Fee, Right of Citizenship Fee, and Open Work Permit Holder Fee. Refunds are generally processed within 8 weeks.
You can apply for a Canadian visa online through the IRCC or VFS Global. You are required to pay service fees when applying through VFS. You might be required to pay additional fees for services such as couriering passports, availing lockers at visa application centres, and sending SMS updates. It is also important to note that apart from all the required documents, you must also buy travel insurance, even if it is not mandatory for a Canadian visa. It will help you cover any unexpended expenses, such as medical expenses, passport loss, baggage loss, delayed or cancelled flights, etc.
