For those checking the passport tracking status through the Passport Seva Portal, follow these steps for a quick passport status update:

• Step 1: Go to the official website passportindia.gov.in
• Step 2: Click on the 'Track Application Status' tab.
• Step 3: You will be redirected to the 'Track Application Status' page.
• Step 4: Enter your 15-digit passport file number and your official date of birth here.
• Step 5: Once you've provided both the details, click on 'Track Status'.
• Step 6: You will be redirected to a fresh page displaying your latest application status.

Passport Tracking Status via Mobile Application

The mPassport Seva App is a mobile application for passport-related tasks. The app is very useful and can also access other passport-related facilities, including Indian passport appointment scheduling. If you prefer the using this Passport Seva App on your mobile to track your passport, then follow these steps:

• Step 1: If you don't have this app, first download it from the google Play store (or Apple store if you have an iOS device)
• Step 2: Using your name, email ID and birthdate, register yourself here.
• Step 3: Go to the 'Status Tracker' and enter the 15-digit passport file number along with your date of birth.
• Step 4: Upon submitting these details, you will see the latest status of your passport application.

Passport Tracking Status via India Post Website

Online tracking for passports can also be done via the India Post official website. You can follow the steps mentioned below

• Step 1: Go to the official website of India Post indiapost.gov.in.
• Step 2: Look for the ‘Track and Trace’ section on the homepage.
• Step 3: Put the tracking number shared on your registered email address.
• Step 4: Click on submit and the tracking will be displayed on your screen

How to Check Passport Status Offline?

For those who are more comfortable with offline methods, there are multiple ways to track the status of your passport application. You can opt for any of the given ways to track passport status offline:

Passport Tracking via Call

There is an active national call centre that offers passport-related information on their number. This is a toll-free number (1800-258-1800) and offers both automated IVR (Interactive Voice Response) as well as citizen service executive.

The executives are available from 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM. Outside these timings, you can make use of the IVR facility.

Passport Tracking via Helpdesk

You can visit the regional passport office (passport seva kendra) for an update. You can also send an email to them regarding the passport application status.

How to Check Passport Dispatch & Delivery Status?

Once all the documents are processed and authorised, your passport will be dispatched via the Indian Speed Post to your current address. You can track your passport via their speed post tracking ID shared with you. You can check the passport tracking number to know when the passport will be delivered. You can also reach out to the nearest speed post centre if you have trouble tracking it online.

You can follow the steps mentioned below to check your passport status:

• Step 1: Go to the official website i.e., Passport Seva Portal and obtain your 13-digit tracking number for your Indian Speed Post consignment.
• Step 2: Now copy this 13-digit number
• Step 3: Go to the official website of Indian Post. After some navigation, you will find a 'Track Consignment' under the website tool section.
• Step 4: Now paste the 13-digit tracking number in the'Consignment Number' box.
• Step 5: Finally, click on the 'Search' button to see your consignment's exact status.

If you don't see any delivery tracking information, then chances are that your passport is yet to be dispatched by the office. In many cases, the passport may be returned if it is unable to locate your given address. For this, you must reach out to your regional passport office.
