      Bangalore Traffic Rules

As per the report, the large number of road accidents in Bangalore has mainly been linked to rash driving and violation of traffic rules. For the unversed, every vehicle owner in India has to follow certain traffic rules stated in the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Since these rules apply pan-India, car drivers in Bangalore also need to follow them.

Keeping in mind the growing number of car accidents across India, including Bangalore, the Motor Vehicles Act was revised in the year 2019. As per the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019, the fine and punishment for violation of traffic rules has been hiked substantially to caution people into drive responsibly. In some cases, the challan rates have been hiked by 200%. The new guidelines came into effect from 1st September 2021.

Karnataka had accepted the new traffic challan rates on 3rd September 2019. But realising the macroeconomic and microeconomic condition of the people, the state transport department had once again revised a few of the challan rates on 21st September 2021. In some cases, the rates were reduced by 80%. Thus, the Bangalore traffic challan rates are slightly different from the rest of India.

Before finding out about the Bangalore traffic challan rates, let’s first know the documents that are essential to carry under the Bangalore traffic rules.

Documents Required to Avoid a Bangalore Traffic Challan

As per the Bangalore traffic rules, every car driver must carry the following documents while driving to avoid earning a traffic challan:

      • A valid driving license of the person behind the wheel.
      • Car Registration Certificate (RC)
      • Car insurance policy
      • Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certificate

In case a car driver is unable to show these documents to the traffic police when asked, he/she will be a defaulter of Bangalore traffic rules and may attract a challan.
