Why was the Karnataka Arogya Sanjeevini Scheme Introduced

Karnataka Arogya Sanjeevini Scheme was initiated on 1st October 2025 to address the serious financial issues of state government employees. Earlier, whenever there was a need for urgent and critical treatment like major heart surgery or trauma treatment, employees or their dependents had to pay the total hospital bills in advance, which sometimes compelled them to use all their savings or borrow money at very high interest rates.

In order to deal with this problem, the Karnataka Government has replaced the slow and complicated medical reimbursement process with a simple, automated cashless treatment system. It provides financial security to state employees, ensuring they can access critical emergency treatments and multi-specialty care without worrying about upfront costs.
