Why Was Mukhyamantri Swasthya Sahayata Yojana Introduced

Prior to the introduction of the Mukhyamantri Swasthya Sahayata Yojana (MMSSYJ), the poor and marginalised population in Jharkhand, more specifically those belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC), Minority and Backward Classes (OBC) communities, were extremely vulnerable financially when dealing with unexpected illnesses, costly surgeries, or prolonged treatments.

In order to bridge the gap, the Department of Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Minority and Backward Class Welfare of the Government of Jharkhand launched the Mukhyamantri Swasthya Sahayata Yojana. The purpose of this scheme is to offer financial protection to marginalised groups through the transfer of financial aid directly to the beneficiaries.
