Why was Mukhyamantri Gambhir Bimari Upchar Yojana Introduced ?

Prior to Mukhyamantri Gambhir Bimari Upchar Yojana, the low- and middle-income families in Jharkhand faced severe financial distress due to high out-of-pocket costs for critical treatments like cancer care, organ transplants, and major surgeries. This put a heavy financial burden on the beneficiary; as a result, many families were forced to take on debt or delay the treatment.

To address this gap, the scheme was introduced to provide financial assistance for critical medical conditions and help eligible beneficiaries access timely treatment. This initiative ensures that eligible beneficiaries receive vital financial support to access timely, specialised care without facing severe financial distress.
