      Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

      • Q. Are PM-JAY and MJPJAY two different cards in Maharashtra?

Ans: No. Maharashtra uses a unified delivery model. Eligible residents receive a single co-branded card (often called the Ayushman Card or MJPJAY Card) that grants access to all covered benefits under both central and state guidelines.
      • Q. Is there any registration fee to apply for the card or access treatment?

Ans: No. Applying for the card and receiving treatment at empanelled hospitals is 100% free of cost. You should never pay any fee to an Arogyamitra or hospital desk for scheme onboarding.
      • Q. Can I get cashless treatment at a private hospital?

Ans: Yes, provided the private hospital is officially empanelled under the AB-PMJAY / MJPJAY network. You can view the updated list of empanelled private and public hospitals on the official SHAS portal or the NHA Beneficiary Portal.
      • Q. Is there a maximum limit on the number of family members covered per card?

Ans: No. The scheme operates on a family floater basis, meaning all listed dependent family members on the ration card/family ID are covered under the scheme.
      • Q. If MJPJAY and PM-JAY are integrated, why does the Maharashtra Government keep both names instead of creating a single name of the Scheme ?

Ans: While beneficiaries see a single system, one card, one portal, and a ₹5 lakh cover, the dual branding serves two distinct administrative needs:
        • PM-JAY provides a central funding  of (60:40 share).
        • MJPJAY gives Maharashtra the legal flexibility to fund 100% state-backed healthcare, expand eligibility to all state residents, and cover additional medical packages beyond central limits.
