Why Was Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Yojana- UP Introduced

Before the introduction of the Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Yojana, teachers and other eligible employees of the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Department largely depended on reimbursement-based medical assistance or had to bear treatment costs themselves. This often resulted in financial strain and delays in accessing quality healthcare, particularly for expensive hospital treatments.

To address this gap, the Uttar Pradesh Government introduced the Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Yojana to provide cashless treatment to eligible teachers, non-teaching staff, and their dependent family members through empanelled hospitals. This makes it similar in purpose to employee-specific health schemes such as the Telangana New Employees Health Scheme (NEHS) and the Dr. YSR Employee Health Scheme in Andhra Pradesh, which provide cashless healthcare benefits to eligible government employees and their dependents.

Who is Eligible for Uttar Pradesh Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Yojana Guidelines?

The Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Yojana scheme is available to eligible personnel working under the Basic Education Department and their dependent family members.

      The following beneficiaries are covered:

      • Teachers working in Basic Education Council schools
      • Teachers working in aided schools recognized by the Basic Education Council
      • Teachers working in self-financed schools recognized by the Basic Education Council
      • Shiksha Mitras working under the Basic Education Department
      • Instructors (Anudeshak)
      • Special Teachers (CWSN)
      • Full-time teachers working in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas
      • Part-time teachers working in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas
      • Wardens working in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas
      • Cooks working under the PM Poshan (Mid-Day Meal) Scheme
      • Eligible dependent family members of the above beneficiaries

It is to be noted that people who are already covered under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Abhiyan or any other government health insurance scheme are not eligible to apply for this scheme.
