    FAQs

    • Q1. What is OD and TP in car insurance?

Ans: OD in car insurance refers to the own damage policy which covers any damage sustained by the insured car due to unforeseen incidents. On the other hand, third-party or TP car insurance covers any third-party liabilities arising out of the insured car. It excludes covering own damages to the insured car.

    • Q2. Is own damage car insurance necessary?

Ans: No, own damage car insurance is not mandatory as per the motor laws of India. This policy is optional and can be purchased along with the mandatory third party car insurance to cover own damages as well.

    • Q3. Does Bajaj own damage cover third-party liabilities?

Ans: No. A Bajaj standalone own damage car policy does not cover third party liabilities. This policy only covers own damages sustained by the insured four-wheeler.

    • Q4. How is Own Damage cover different from comprehensive car insurance?

Ans: As the name suggests own-damage car insurance only covers damages caused to the insured vehicle due to road accidents, fire, theft, calamities, etc. Whereas comprehensive four-wheeler insurance covers both third-party liabilities and damages sustained by the insured vehicle due to an uncertain event. Thus, a comprehensive car insurance policy offers broader coverage than an OD cover.
