Royal Sundaram Car Insurance Claim

Anyone who owns a car, at some point in time needs to raise a claim request. A motor insurance claim request can be raised due to any reason – be it an accidental loss or damage, theft, collision or break down.

To avoid any confusion at that time, here’s a quick rundown of the steps that you need to follow while making a car insurance claim with Royal Sundaram. It can be a cashless claim or a reimbursement of the expenses incurred for the accidental damage repair.



How to File Cashless and Reimbursement Claims with Royal Sundaram?

You can file a claim by calling them at their helpline number: 1860 425 0000 or emailing them at customer.services[@]royalsundaram[.]in.

Here’ a quick rundown of the things that you need to do while claiming insurance for your insured vehicle with Royal Sundaram-

  • As soon as there is need to file a claim, make sure that you immediately notify Royal Sundaram insurance about the incidence. Also, provide them with the policy details.
  • Once claim intimation is sent, and repair estimate is given to the workshop, the vehicle will be surveyed. Vehicle survey is mandatory before the repair work can begin. If required, vehicle can be re-inspected.
  • You will also be asked to submit your car’s RC and driving license
  • Duly signed and filled claim form needs to be submitted to the surveyor
  • If the policy was issued on company’s name, the claim form needs to have the company seal and signature of an authorized representative
  • FIR copy needs to be submitted to claim a third-party injury damage, injury or death
  • Some additional documents may be required. But this varies from situation to situation
  • To initiate a cashless claim, all the documents should be submitted in the required order
  • For cashless claim, the company requires repair bills (original) along with a satisfaction voucher from the customer
  • For claim reimbursement request, cash receipt with invoice needs to be submitted
  • For theft-related claims, the insurer will send the theft claim procedure letter to your address

How to Make Car Insurance Theft Claims?

  1. For theft-related claims, it is mandatory to file a police report
  2. After that, you need to inform Royal Sundaram Insurance Company
  3. Your claim will only be processed after filing a police report
  4. Provide the car’s description, Kilometers driven etc.
  5. The insurance company will need all the details related to the vehicle whether it was on lease or loan.
  6. Give the copy of Police FIR to the insurance company
  7. Inform them, if any belonging were stolen with your car during the incident
  8. Your RTO should also be informed about the theft
  9. If the car is recovered by the local police, you should inform the insurance provider
  10. If the car is recovered, the insurer will compensate for the loss along with the items that are stolen (subjected to policy terms and conditions)
  11. A Non-Traceable Certificate will be issued for a car that is not recovered. The court will provide a final report (under sec 173 Crpc).
  12. If a car was purchased on loan, the claim will be settled directly with the financier . IDV is the market value of the car as listed by the manufacturer at that time.

How to Make Car Insurance Claims for Own Damages?

  • In case of accidental injuries, medical help should be arranged immediately
  • Provide the information about the people and vehicles involved
  • Please do not commit to anybody regarding reparation, if any.
  • Immediately notify the incident at the nearest police station in the following circumstances –theft, death, accidental injuries, third-party damage, burglary, or if there is an incidence of housebreaking. Also, if there is damage due to riots, malicious act, and terrorist activity, it is essential to inform at the nearest police station.
  • If the accident is major and the car cannot be moved, do not attempt to drive it or start the engine before it is surveyed and sent for repair.
  • Do not attempt to change the accident condition of the car until it is assessed by the surveyor. No parts of the car or accessories should be missing from the place of incident.
  • Move the damaged car to the nearest workshop after the survey. They will give you a detailed estimate of the repair work with labor charges, along with its price. This money can be reimbursed by the insurer.
  • Speak to the insured, if a cashless settlement is required for the damage repair work
  • Inform the insurance provider about the damage immediately
  • Submit the duly filled and signed claim form
  • Submit all the documents for verification (original and photocopy)
  • Submit Vehicle Registration Copy, Driving License, Copy of FIR and Repair Estimates
  • For claim processing, additional documents may be required in certain conditions.
  • The surveyor assesses the vehicle, the claim is approved and the mode of claim settlement is decided on the completion of the process.

Things to remember

  • Make sure that you provide accurate and complete information – including contact number, address, vehicle number, email-id in the claim form
  • In case a notice or summon is sent to you after the accident (expect any criminal proceedings), contact the insurance company with the petition copy.
