      Documents Required for SBI Car Insurance Claim Settlement

      The following documents are mandatory to raise a SBI car insurance claim:

      • Completed SBI car insurance claim form
      • Original car insurance policy document.
      • RC Copy of the vehicle
      • Driver’s driving licence
      • Additional documents such as a police FIR report, endorsement, and others must be supplied.
      • Bills of repair and estimates of repair

      Types of SBI Car Insurance Claims

      A policyholder can opt for two types of claim settlements: cashless claims and reimbursement claims.

      1. Cashless Claim Settlement

        Under a cashless claim settlement process, a policyholder is not required to pay for repairs from his pocket. In this type of claim, the insured car is taken to an authorised network garage for repairs. Once the repairs are complete, the insurer directly settles the claim with the garage.

      2. Reimbursement Claim Settlement

        This type of claim process becomes effective when a policyholder does not get his/her car repaired in a network garage. Under this process, the policyholder pays the repair amount from his/her pocket, which is later reimbursed by the insurer upon proper verification.

      How To File the SBI Car Insurance Claim?

      Here is how a policyholder can file an SBI four-wheeler insurance claim easily.

      1. Accidental Claims

        • Contact the Insurer: Contact and inform the insurer of the accident. The claim request will be started as a result of this.
        • Documents Submission: Submit the mandatory documents for claim verification.
        • Vehicle Repair: Take your four-wheeler to the nearest network garage for repairs.
        • Claim Settled: Once the car is repaired, the insurer will settle your claim with the network garage. For reimbursement claims, you can raise a request and get your claim amount reimbursed.
      2. Third Party Claims

        • If you have met with a third-party accident, the first thing to do is to file an FIR at the nearest police station.
        • Next up, intimate the insurer of the third-party damages
        • File a claim in the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT)
        • MACT will now look into the case and decide upon the compensation to be paid to the third party. A similar process would be followed in case your car has sustained damages due to a third party.
