What is Form 22F?

Form 22F is a document that confirms that the vehicle alteration or modification carried out by the retrofitment company is in line with the prescribed Government regulations. The company has to fill in this form and forward it to the vehicle owner. This form must then be submitted by the vehicle owner to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) with other supporting documents for the endorsement of alteration or modification in the Registration Certificate (RC).

Who Issues Form 22F?

Form 22F must be filled in and forwarded to the vehicle owner by the following types of entities:

• Vehicle manufacturers
• Authorised dealers
• Approved workshops or retrofitment companies
• Authorised service station

Who Needs Form 22F?

Vehicle retrofitment companies or authorised modification firms must issue Form 22F to:

• Vehicle owners whose vehicles have undergone modifications.
• Vehicle owners who have installed approved retrofitment systems in their vehicles.
• Vehicle owners who have made structural or technical changes to their vehicles.

Form 22F essentially serves as a compliance certificate confirming that the modifications meet prescribed government norms.

Difference Between Form 22D and Form 22F

What Details are Included in Form 22F?

Here are a few details that you can check out in Form 22F:

• Vehicle and owner details, such as vehicle make and model, registration number, chassis number, engine number, owner's name, address, and phone number.
• Nature and description of alteration or retrofitment, like body structure, engine/chassis replacement, fuel source, etc.
• Information about the applicable regulations and standards for carrying out the required alterations/retrofitment as per the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
• Name, address, and contact information of the firm that carried out the alteration or retrofitment.

The compliance report issued by the authorised testing agency also needs to be attached to this form while submitting it.

How to Download Form 22F?

You can simply follow the steps below to download Form 22F:

• Step 1: Open the Parivahan Sewa website.
• Step 2: Navigate to the 'Informational Services' tab. Tap on 'Downloadable Forms'.
• Step 3: Now, you can see a list of different RTO forms. Click on 'Form 22F' and download it.

How to Fill Form 22F?

Form 22F is filled in by the authorised workshop or manufacturer. Here's how it can be filled:

• Provide details of the motor vehicle, such as its make and model, chassis number, engine number, and registration number.
• Mention the vehicle owner's information, including their name, address, and mobile number.
• List the details of the retrofitment or vehicle modification, like changes made to the fuel source, engine/chassis replacement, and body structure.
• Mention the applicable rules according to the regulations of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
• Attach the compliance report issued by the authorised testing agency or the self-certification report.
• Name, address, and contact details of the company or firm that carried out the required vehicle modification.

Why is Form 22F Important?

Form 22F is crucial for the following reasons:

Common Reasons for Rejection of Form 22F

The RTO may reject Form 22F due to any of these reasons:

• Incorrect Information: If the vehicle details, retrofitment company details, or owner details are inaccurate, the RTO will reject the form.
• Missing Compliance Certification: If the compliance certificate is not attached to the form, the RTO will reject it.
• Certificate Issued by Unauthorised Workshop: If an unauthorised company has issued the compliance certificate, it is a clear violation of the Government regulations. As a result, the RTO will reject the Form 22F.
• Incomplete Modification Information: If the vehicle modification or retrofitment details are not clearly stated in the form, the registering authority will reject it.
