As soon as you purchase a vehicle in Punjab, you need to register under the Punjab RTO. Following are the documents required for temporary registration of a vehicle in Punjab:
Sales certificate in Form 21
Road worthiness certificate in Form 22
Applicable road tax as specified in the schedule of Punjab Motor Vehicles Taxation Act.
Valid insurance certificate
Proof of address (Ration card, electricity bill etc)
Pollution under control certificate

Visit your nearest RTO with your motor vehicle
Fill in the application forms for the Registration certificate.

As per the rules, a motor vehicle is registered for a maximum of 15 years after which it has to be renewed. For the continuous use of a motor vehicle, a vehicle's registration certificate is required to be renewed within 60 days of its expiry date. Fill the Form 25 to apply for the renewal of RC to the respective RTO
Submit all the required documents to the RTO

The vehicle will then be inspected at the zonal office for its roadworthiness. If found fit, the re-registration certificate will be issued.
