The Ladakh RTO is responsible for the following services:

Parivahan Sewa Online RTO Services in Ladakh

Ladakh offers the following RTO services online at Parivahan Sewa and the state transport website:

1. Driving Licence Services

   Apply for a driving licence and access other licence-related services, such as renewal, addition of class, etc.

2. Vehicle Registration Services

   Access available vehicle registration and RC services through the VAHAN platform.

3. Tax & Fee Services

   Pay applicable road tax and other transport-related charges through available online facilities.

4. Permit Services

   Access applicable vehicle permits and their services for transport vehicles.

Ladakh Vehicle Registration Number Format

A vehicle registered in Ladakh carries an HSRP registration number beginning with LA, followed by the district-specific registration code and the registration series/number.

Ladakh RTO Rules and Regulations

Ladakh's transport administration works under the applicable Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, Central Motor Vehicles Rules and motor vehicle taxation provisions adopted or notified for the Union Territory. The Transport Department is responsible for administering the Motor Vehicles Act through regulatory and enforcement mechanisms. Here are some important rules and regulations:

1. Valid Driving Licence

   A valid driving licence is required to drive a motor vehicle on public roads.

2. Vehicle Registration

   A vehicle must be registered with the concerned registering authority before being used on public roads.

3. Road Tax

   Applicable road tax must be paid as prescribed for vehicles using public roads in Ladakh.

4. Vehicle Fitness

   Vehicles requiring a fitness certificate must meet the prescribed fitness requirements before they can legally operate.

5. Permit Requirements

   Transport vehicles must have the appropriate permit for the routes or areas where they operate. Ladakh's State Transport Authority regulates contract carriage permits and applicable routes.

6. HSRP Number Plate

   It is mandatory for all vehicle owners to have a valid HSRP number plate affixed to their vehicles, with a hologram, laser-etched code, and UIN.
